National Design Centre

The National Design Centre has captured my imagination since my first visit. Recognised for its subtle, functional but aesthetic architecture that complemented the old age building, what really is my favourite part of this building is the thought that has been put into this building. In order to create a flexible building capable of housing the Centre’s various activities, evolving spaces, flexible studios, meeting rooms and exhibition areas were created. The central courtyard was transformed into a glass-covered atrium that can host an array of events and showcases. Translucent boxes cantilever to provide spaces for public and private uses.” It was a privilege to meet the architects and hear them storytell their inspirations, issues and journey in rehabilitating NDC.

A compilation of the sketches and work of the National Design Centre, home of work and play through interchangeable open spaces for manipulating spaces.
A quiet shot that I took of my handbag as I was walking down the back stairway.

A shot of the roofing. Originally, this conserved building was an open space.

The shadowplay and intricacies that creates character to the building on a sunny day.

A building with a similar concept in roofing to the National Design Centre.
