Designing Insights

Creating an Ecosystem for Productivity Opportunities

This illustration, featured in a publication, Designing Dining, is an ecosystem design by me that pinpoints important insights from both front-of-house and back-of-house in the Food & Beverage (F&B) sector to improve productivity for Singapore’s Food & Beverage (F&B) sector. These insights should be taken into consideration should anyone want to redesign their environment. This year long research and design initiative requires me to work closely with design and research consultancies where I was exposed to various insights, opportunities and spatial concepts that redesigned productivity.

The Process

This are two separate drafts that look in to the front-of-house and back-of-house of any F&B outlets.
Combining both drafts through the use of SketchUp for positioning and crafting.
Transferring the eps. from SketchUp to Adobe Illustrator for colour exploration, touch ups and refinement. Illustrating humans to add human touch as well as highlighting activities and spatial use.

Felt the colours were too contrasting and distracting. Changed it to warm and cool tones to differentiate and create focus.

Final illustration used in the publication. Details were added such as food and beverages as well as icons to pinpoint the opportunities for problem solving.
